In recent years, the Government of China has paid more attentions to the issues of farmers’ rights. One of the major steps taken in this direction was the revision of the Agriculture Law of the People’s Republic of China on December 28,2002 at the 31st Conference of the Ninth NPC standing committee and was implemented on March 1,2003. This newly revised Agriculture Law has added a new chapter, that is,Chapter 9 which focuses on the protection of farmers’ rights. It is a landmark event, which for the first time brings the protection of farmers’ rights into jurisprudence.
